Join us for a bus trip to tour Magnolia Mound Plantation in Baton Rouge on August 4. Magnolia Mound Plantation was originally built in 1791 and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. We will enjoy a guided tour of the plantation house and a self-guided tour of the open-hearth kitchen, a double slave quarter (c 1830), the pigeonnier (c 1825), the overseer’s house (c 1871), and last but not least a rare three seat privy! Our tour will be followed by a relaxing lunch at Mike Anderson’s Seafood Restaurant which is located near Magnolia Mound. The menu choices for our lunch will be your choice of a fried catfish platter, a marinated grilled chicken breast, bbq shrimp, or a shrimp remoulade salad. The first three items will be served with a house salad and stuffed baked potato.
Please note that the house is not wheelchair accessible.
Tour limited to 40 participants.
