Dr. Keith M Finley, PhD

Keith M. Finley is assistant professor of history at Southeastern Louisiana University and assistant director of the Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies. He received his BA from Gettysburg College in 1995, his MA in history from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1999, and his PhD. in history from Louisiana State University in 2003. He is the author of the book Delaying the Dream: Southern Senators and the Fight Against Civil Rights, 1938-1965 which received the D.B. Hardeman Prize for the best book on Congress. In addition, he is the author of numerous articles, encyclopedia entries, and other publications focusing on southern and Louisiana history and is finalizing a new book, titled "From Slavery to Segregation: Continuity and Change in the White South’s Defence of its Racial Institutions."
